A GREATER LOVE

Available now from Romance at Heart

Rosalyn Grant is a talented writer, widowed, living alone in beautiful Ocean Breeze, content with her life. It is a far cry from putting up with a dying husband who only realized what he had in Rose when it was all coming to an end. Still, Rosalyn granted him dignity in death, and moved on. When her neighbour is murdered, it triggers a chain reaction involving new friends, old acquaintances, and the possibility of a new, unexpected love.

David MacGregor is fed up with the avid women who pursue him. Being a very private and reticent man, he repudiates the wiles of the sexual predator who wants much more than a dinner date. David is surprised and dismayed when he realizes that the predator is a college friend of the one person who interests him: Rosalyn, a witness in a murder he is investigating. David excels at his job as Chief of Police in Ocean Breeze, and soon discovers the murderer. When his second in command, Detective Erin Hanrahan, notices the attraction between David and Rosalyn, she decides to do some matchmaking.

The handsome couple seems destined to be lovers. The only question is, will their love survive the jealousy of David's former playmates, and the crude interference by Rosalyn's former college friends...

Reviews:

"A Greater Love ranks up there with Navajo Dreams in the top list of the always fine offerings of author Kate Hofman. This one too will linger in the reader's memory." - 5 Swords, JLFoster.biz

"This is a very well written love story with an interesting plot and sensitively written but very erotic love scenes.. David and Rose are very real characters. Both are widowed and not really looking for another love, but smart enough not to let one go when they find it. The supporting characters are equally well done and inspire strong emotions. You will love David's coworker Erin and her husband Kieran and Mac and Marcella. I felt sorry for the elderly woman who was murdered, but really disliked her killer and the male detective Joe. I also wondered how Rose could possibly be friends with such a vicious person as Ada or a self centered slob like Julie, but college friends sometimes do not last to adulthood. The twists and turns in the plot added interest and conflict, but the main characters' strong feelings for each other win out every time. It is nice to read about character with strong values, and the author contrasts the pair to other characters without their virtues without making them seem too goody goody. This is simply a wonderfully well-done love story that will make the reader feel good." - 4 1/2 Hearts, Maura Frankman, The Romance Studio

"A GREATER LOVE is a grand love story with characters that are realistic and full of human flaws. Rose and David are people I would love to call “friend.” They are admirable in their caring and compassion, with neither wanting to hurt the people they care about but wanting desperately to be together. With the many obstacles thrown into their paths, this reader was certainly kept on my toes wondering if these two people would find a way to be together. The profound chemistry radiating through the air whenever they are together is proof aplenty that they are meant to be together. The mystery of the neighbor’s murder adds a little extra zing to the plot, further providing an obstacle for our lovers to overcome. The secondary cast ranges from the extremely engaging to the truly reprehensible, adding an extra fullness to the story. Fiercely tender and intensely romantic, A GREATER LOVE is not about the sex but all about the romance. I gladly recommend Kate Hofman’s book for anyone who loves a good solid love story." - 5 Blue Ribbons, Scarlet, Romance Junkies
